The Chico Cycling Chautauqua!

CCC Flyer

(Download this flyer as a PDF.)

Thank you everybody for making the first ever Chico Cycling Chautauqua more than awesome.

We are very proud to announce the very first
Cycling Chautauqua

in the history of ever!

This is for everyone who rides a bike.

We at Wheeled Migration have partnered with the momentum of the Butte Bicycle Coalition to bring forth an event to honor bicycle culture in Chico.

If you're reading this, it's in honor of your lifestyle, sooo... are you going?

See, we've got everything from alley cats to criteriums in our streets right now and the chautauqua punctuates this by calling forth the wealth of bike styles that make us a very bikey community.

The chautauqua (pronounced /ʃəˈtɔːkwə/) was an education movement in the United States, and quite hip in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The chautauqua assemblies brought entertainment and culture for the whole community, with speakers, teachers, musicians, entertainers, preachers and specialists of the day.

Theodore Roosevelt is quoted as saying that a chautauqua is "the most American thing in America."

We think it's the most bikey thing we can do for Chico.

So in this tradition have invited every visible bicycle organization, team, and group in town to turn out and shine among us.

There are whispers of outdoor living rooms, schwag bags, showboating, photostreams, blinging bikes, a stage of bicycles, and some very fine entertainment mingling among the crowds.

The Sicilian Cafe is bringing the feast...
That's reason enough really.

As the evening settles, the Wheeled Migration riders are leading a brief ride through the city streets to the fire ring in Bidwell Park where we will be sharing the story of our adventure of touring in mass.

Then, after all that.. We're saddling up for a late night ride to where ever the road goes. Just bring your helmet and your lights- all of them...

With your help we will see Chico's cycling culture well represented, and a swath of chrome and carbon filling the plaza on Sunday the 28th.

Bike up!
